Already well established in the Tamil film industry, Jawan marks the director's first foray into mainstream Bollywood, and he nails it. |

It has a little bit of something for everyone. |
Manik Sharma | Firstpost | Fresh | — | 2024-01-26T00:06:35Z | 2024-01-26 00:06:35 | At times this sandy earth subsumes the peculiar nature of edgy stories, at other times its languid, unornamented baseline allows characters to hold onto something raw.

Carla Hay | Culture Mix | Fresh | — | 2023-10-10T22:59:47Z | 2023-10-10 22:59:47 | Jawan uses a lot of familiar plot devices in these types of lengthy action films about revenge, corruption, and people with secrets. Some of the story's twists could have been handled better, but the performances remain engaging.

The big SRK show that has a little bit of everything, but doesn’t really do any of it super well. Still, it’s enough for an above-average mass entertainer. |
Simon Abrams | RogerEbert.com | Fresh | 2.5/4 | 2023-09-08T17:23:50Z | 2023-09-08 17:23:50 | “Jawan” will probably delight Khan’s established fans, and maybe uninitiated viewers, too, if only because he’s comfortably playing the hits, now with somewhat greater conviction and a little more polish.
Shubhra Gupta | The Indian Express | Fresh | 3.5/5 | 2023-09-08T14:26:33Z | 2023-09-08 14:26:33 | Fashioned as an unabashed massy entertainer, Jawan slips in strong political messaging at every opportunity, making it a film which is very much of the moment.
Saibal Chatterjee | NDTV | Fresh | 3.5/5 | 2023-09-08T13:48:37Z | 2023-09-08 13:48:37 | Packed with all the ingredients that you would expect in a high-octane action film, Jawan is a strikingly meta vehicle in which a star communicates directly with his fan base and holds forth on themes that are crying out to be addressed.
Renuka Vyavahare | The Times of India | Fresh | 3.5/5 | 2023-09-08T12:46:02Z | 2023-09-08 12:46:02 | You will be reminded of Money Heist, Squid Game, The Dark Knight Rises, old Hindi songs and The Lion King but topping it all is a heady mix of SRK-Atlee tadka.
Devesh Sharma | Filmfare | Fresh | 4/5 | 2023-09-08T11:50:12Z | 2023-09-08 11:50:12 | Jawan is SRK’s vehicle throughout. And the actor gives his all to the film from the first frame to the last.
Nandini Ramnath | Scroll.in | Fresh | — | 2023-09-08T11:44:00Z | 2023-09-08 11:44:00 | Fleet despite its 169-minute runtime, with sequence after sequence designed to draw whistles as well as wring out tears, Jawan deftly leaps from one incredulous moment to the next.
Akhil Arora | AkhilArora.com | Rotten | — | 2023-09-08T11:07:42Z | 2023-09-08 11:07:42 | [When] he’s not busy addressing the viewer, Jawan tends to reduce [Shah Rukh] Khan’s presence to a collection of cool-looking shots. [...] Any culture that worships individuals and excuses their faults—be it an actor or a politician—is asking for trouble.
Mike McCahill | Guardian | Fresh | 3/5 | 2023-09-08T10:44:01Z | 2023-09-08 10:44:01 | Jawan will prove no more enduring than Pathaan in the Khan pantheon, but it’s a semi-fascinating display of star power, and a rollicking (if bumpy) Friday-night ride.
David Tusing | The National (UAE) | Fresh | 4/5 | 2023-09-07T18:48:02Z | 2023-09-07 18:48:02 | Jawan is thoroughly entertaining and sits in the same vein as spy-thriller Pathaan, only amplified multiple times over.
Sukanya Verma | Rediff.com | Fresh | 4/5 | 2023-09-07T18:22:33Z | 2023-09-07 18:22:33 | Beyond its comic-book entertainment chronicling the age-old war between good and evil, Jawan springs a real surprise when it boldly and directly points fingers at the ineffective government and appeals to recognise the power of the finger and vote.
Anupama Chopra | Film Companion | Fresh | — | 2023-09-07T14:41:50Z | 2023-09-07 14:41:50 | Jawaan runs for a 170 minutes and the incessant sound and fury becomes exhausting. But Shah Rukh, especially the older version, keeps the film from becoming a slog. With greying hair and a cigar, he summons a formidable swagger.
Pramit Chatterjee | Digital Mafia Talkies | Fresh | 5/5 | 2023-09-07T13:48:57Z | 2023-09-07 13:48:57 | [Jawan] feels like a truly unabashed Shah Rukh Khan party where every facet of the King of Bollywood is put on display and appreciated without any form of reluctance.
Ishita Sengupta | OTTplay | Fresh | — | 2023-09-07T13:07:51Z | 2023-09-07 13:07:51 | Jawan unfolds as a terrific star vehicle that never assumes the monstrosity of a vanity project. The reason being the director does not exalt Khan as much as revamps the way we are conditioned to look at him.
