Sebastian Zavala Kahn | Me gusta el cine | Fresh | 3.5/5 | 1 day ago | 2026-10-13 22:05:00 | A film packed with explosive, bloody action, funny gags, likeable characters, detestable villains, and credible motivations. [Full review in Spanish].
Jonathon Wilson | Ready Steady Cut | Fresh | 3.5/5 | 2026-09-30T11:13:18.000Z | 2026-09-30 11:13:18 | It occupies that unique space where you’re not expecting much going in but get a lot more than you bargained for. If you’re going to make a throwback action-comedy evoking the classics of the genre, you may as well do it right.
Abhishek Srivastava | The Times of India | Fresh | 3/5 | 2026-09-25T19:47:50.000Z | 2026-09-25 19:47:50 | The action sequences deliver; Ritchson and Wilson are an enjoyable pair, and the film moves quickly enough that the weaker stretches do not last too long. But there is not much underneath the plot.
Mark Jackson | Epoch Times | Fresh | 3/5 | 2026-09-19T19:41:22.000Z | 2026-09-19 19:41:22 | "Runner" is about as generic and utility-grade an action-comedy hybrid as you can get, but the meh script is rescued by the casting.
Aaron Neuwirth | We Live Entertainment | Fresh | 7/10 | 2026-09-18T20:56:33.000Z | 2026-09-18 20:56:33 | The balance of sincerity and humor fits the film’s stakes and the performers’ vibe. It may seem like simple stuff, but the execution makes this an exciting run.
Collin Garbarino | WORLD | Fresh | — | 2026-09-18T16:30:01.000Z | 2026-09-18 16:30:01 | I went into this movie with pretty low expectations. The trailer makes the film look terrible. But Runner turns out to be entertaining with a couple likable leads.
Rachel Ho | Exclaim! | Fresh | 7/10 | 2026-09-17T21:26:23.000Z | 2026-09-17 21:26:23 | This is not a film that will require hours of spirited debate afterwards. This is a film that will take audiences on a ride for 99 minutes, ebbing and flowing perfectly to create a high-octane, thoughtful action film with just the right amount of comedy.
Scott Mendelson | The Outside Scoop (Substack) | Fresh | 7/10 | 2026-09-17T19:37:33.000Z | 2026-09-17 19:37:33 | A clever high concept and nuanced turns from Alan Richson and Owen Wilson elevate Angel Studios’ genuinely suspenseful and surprisingly violent chase thriller
Nelson Acosta | Koimoi | Fresh | 3/5 | 2026-09-16T08:13:05.000Z | 2026-09-16 08:13:05 | Angel Studio tries to go mainstream with this actioner that feels very much like a streaming movie and not a real cinema-worthy experience.
Christie Cronan | Common Sense Media | Fresh | 3/5 | 2026-09-15T17:53:20.000Z | 2026-09-15 17:53:20 | It's an easy watch that's higher on stunts and lower on laughs, but Runner's generic title pretty much sums the movie up.
Helen O'Hara | Empire Magazine | Fresh | 3/5 | 2026-09-15T17:22:28.000Z | 2026-09-15 17:22:28 | It's business as usual for both Ritchson and Wilson, but perfectly serviceable action baloney with just enough humour and emotion to keep you engaged.
Rick Bentley | KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) | Fresh | B- | 2026-09-15T16:32:03.000Z | 2026-09-15 16:32:03 | “Runner” follows every buddy action trope in the director’s how-to book. That doesn’t end up a negative because of the strong casting.
Marlon Wallace | The M Report (WBOC.com) | Fresh | — | 2026-09-14T23:38:15.000Z | 2026-09-14 23:38:15 | Knowing the résumé of the Waugh brothers gives you an idea of what to expect in this production... a Navy SEAL or a military-type, a big, buff, or muscular beefcake who is often brooding and tough, as well as capable of fighting up a storm...
Alex Saveliev | Film Threat | Fresh | 6/10 | 2026-09-14T23:31:49.000Z | 2026-09-14 23:31:49 | It’s cheeky “turn your brain off” entertainment, best enjoyed after a few beers on Friday night.
